01 Introduction
QuranLock ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the QuranLock mobile application ("App") available on the Apple App Store.
Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.
02 Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you use QuranLock, you may voluntarily provide:
- Age range — collected during onboarding to personalise your experience.
- Goals and intentions — your reasons for using the app (e.g., building a Quran-reading habit, reducing screen time).
- Self-reported Quran reading frequency — how often you currently read the Quran.
- Obstacles you face — factors that prevent you from reaching your goals (e.g., social media usage).
- Digital commitment/signature — a drawn signature as part of an in-app personal commitment step.
2.2 Information Generated Through App Use
- Reading session data — verses read, time spent reading, and progress through the Quran.
- Streak data — your daily blocking and reading streak count.
- Blocking configuration — your chosen blocking strategy, target verse counts or reading durations, and unlock settings.
- App selection — which applications you have chosen to block (stored locally via Apple's Screen Time framework).
- Subscription status — whether you are on a free, monthly, yearly, or lifetime plan.
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect the specific names or content of messages, calls, emails, or any activity within blocked apps.
- We do not access the content of your device outside of what is necessary for Screen Time functionality.
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not collect or store biometric data.
- We do not track your activity across third-party apps or websites.
03 How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Provide and operate the App's core functionality (blocking apps, tracking reading progress, calculating rewards).
- Personalise your onboarding experience and in-app recommendations.
- Calculate and display your reading streak, hasanat (reward) estimates, and unlocked screen time.
- Manage your subscription and enforce plan limits (e.g., one-app limit on the free tier).
- Improve the App through aggregated, anonymised analytics (if analytics are enabled — see Section 5).
04 Data Storage & Security
4.1 Local Storage
All personal data — including your onboarding responses, reading history, streak data, and blocking configuration — is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms (UserDefaults with App Group container). This data does not leave your device unless explicitly described otherwise in this policy.
4.2 Your Digital Commitment
The signature you draw during onboarding is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers. It is used purely as a personal motivational commitment tool within the App.
4.3 Security
We implement reasonable technical safeguards consistent with Apple's platform security model. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
05 Analytics
The App may use privacy-preserving, aggregated analytics to help us understand how users interact with features (e.g., which blocking strategies are most popular). If we collect analytics, we will do so in a manner consistent with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and applicable law. No personally identifiable information is shared with analytics providers.
06 Subscriptions & Purchases
QuranLock offers in-app purchases managed through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We do not directly collect or store your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store Terms of Service. For questions about billing, refunds, or subscription management, please contact Apple or visit your device's App Store subscription settings.
07 Screen Time & Family Controls
QuranLock uses Apple's Screen Time (FamilyControls) framework to apply app shields. This framework:
- Operates entirely on-device.
- Does not expose the identities of blocked apps to us — app selection data remains on your device under Apple's framework controls.
- Requires your explicit authorisation before any Screen Time functionality is enabled.
We have no visibility into which specific apps you choose to block.
08 Children's Privacy
QuranLock is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
09 Data Retention & Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all App data at any time by:
- Deleting the QuranLock app from your device, which removes all locally stored data.
- Resetting the App via any in-app reset option if provided.
We do not maintain server-side copies of your personal data.

11 Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. 12 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, by providing additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
